With each year that ends and begins and ends again, there’s one thing that never seems to change for me as a photographer. I love the mountains. More than mountains, I love long open roads that lead to and from the mountains. Being in Southern California, there aren’t many mountains (or hills as some would call them) that has a lone road leading to them. But in the Eastern Sierra Nevada I get those road and mountain scenes in bulk. In this case, I happened to come across what seemed like a newly resurfaced road. It was quite shiny and begged to be photographed. Because unless I’m there after some heavy rain, I don’t think I’ll see it this clean again. As a bonus the sun dipped just behind the mountain range and shot beams of light all across the top of the landscape. Quite a beautiful scene and I was glad to be there to see it in person.
