If there’s anything that I can’t resist, it’s sunsets and sunrises. And while I was in Mono County I already told myself that there’s no way that I could be out there without trying to shoot the sunset from somewhere. So I made my way out to the South Tufa area of Mono Lake to find a good spot to wait for something amazing, and I’m glad to say that I wasn’t disappointed one bit. I took a few shots with the sun still high, but I decided to get some more with the sun already low enough to be completely behind the mountains. The bright light was shooting up to the clouds, painting them with a little pink and filling the entire scene with a great blue tint that only a blue hour could bring. With the tufa, the reflections from the lake, and the colors all around it was one of the best sunsets I’ve witnessed all year long. And hopefully it won’t be the last.
