It’s been a while since I’ve gone hiking along the trails of the Verdugo Mountains. Not because of a lack of time or anything like that. I just haven’t been in the mood. I do still love that hiking trail. I just wanted to take a break from it I suppose. One thing I would like to do is get myself a cyclocross bike and ride to the peak. That would make for a fun workout and I could get back down the mountain faster. Of course if I stick around for the entirety of the sunset it might be dangerous riding down. It gets very dark there which would make it tough to see. Even with solid lights I imagine I would have to take it nice and slow.
Anyways, during my last hike up to the peak I managed to enjoy this wonderful sunset. There aren’t many things that are as satisfying as a view like this. Imagine hiking up with all of your gear and being greeted by a great show at the peak. Even without a camera this kind of view is worth the hike. There have been times since I took up photography that I’ve hiked up there without any gear. I do have my phone with me so I can still take an image. But I enjoy making these hikes without any other intent than just enjoying the scene.
I haven’t made any official plan to hike each week this year. But as it would turn out I’ve made a hike each week so far. Well, since the end of January anyways. Constantly hiking has been pretty fun and I feel great. Admittedly though, this weekend that streak will officially come to an end. Call it age. Call it responsibilities. Whatever the case I’m just feeling a little fatigued. Hiking around with my camera gear has been fun. But I’m finding that it’s leaving me a bit worn. The weekend isn’t over yet so I may still get out there. But odds are I’ll just take this weekend to relax. I’ll get back on the trail soon. And when I do I hope I can share some fun images here on my humble little photoblog.
