For those of you that follow this humble little photoblog, you’ll know that I took a ton of shots in Bali, Indonesia. And specifically, I fired away in Tanjung Benoa. I only had a few days in the area so I wasn’t shy about firing off as many shots as I possibly could of the beautiful ocean and epic sky. But out of shots I’ve processed, I haven’t processed to many in black and white. I like black and white photography very much, but it’s no secret that I enjoy color! There are times I start out by thinking of a black and white conversion, but always end up keeping the photo in color because I just love it. But for this one, I thought I really would make the conversion to good ol’ monochrome to change things up.
For this shot I left the shutter open for about about 180 seconds to not only get that water glassy and smooth, but to also capture some great movement in the clouds. I love these super long exposures because not only can I get a shot of the scene, but I can also stand back and enjoy the view without worrying about my camera. Gotta love wired remotes and tripods!
And just because I do love me some color, I thought I’d share the color version of this shot. I just can’t resist the pinkish horizon and the beautiful blues!
