During my recent trip to Tokyo, I had the pleasure of hanging out with somebody that I’m very close to, Yumi Shoji. We’ve hung out several times before but this was the first trip where my vacation matched up perfectly with her days off from work, so we didn’t hesitate to spend as much time as we could together. I love hanging out with Yumi, so needless to say I had a great time. And because she’s a photographer also, we managed to have a lot of fun on our own photowalk through Tokyo and Yokohama.
As you can see, one of the stops we made was to visit the Tokyo Sky Tree. The tower is complete but wasn’t quite open to the public during our visit. But we were happy to see if completed and we’ll be visiting that observatory deck soon now that it’s open.

After spending some time with the Sky Tree we decided to visit Yumi’s favorite place to hangout in Japan. Yokohama. Yokohama is a great city with so much to do, so what better time to visit than with somebody that knows the area so well? Though I’ve been to Yokohama several times before, this was the first time that I had arrived through Minatormirai Station. It’s such a beautiful station with classic photographs of the area on the walls on either side of the platform. Here is Yumi taking some shots of the station. She has such a great eye for leading lines, so I followed her example and shot down the line as well.

The Chinatown in Yokohama is by far one of my favorite Chinatown’s to visit. It’s so rich with the Chinese culture and each building is beautifully designed to bring a part of China to Japan. And of course, as with any Chinatown, they had plenty of lanterns.

While in Chinatown, both me and Yumi were getting pretty hungry so she thought about buying some steam buns. But we opted to skip them for now since we were planning on a super dinner later in the evening. ;-P

And what day in Chinatown would be complete without a little shopping?

And when we finally made it to one of Yumi’s favorite restaurants, she was kind enough to pose in front with this statue just outside of the door. From here I don’t have many pictures to share because once we sat down inside all I did was eat. he he. But at a great restaurant, who could blame me for not doing anything but chow down? ;-P
