This week I find myself in my home away from home, Tokyo, Japan! It probably comes as no surprise at this point in my life but I’m in Japan several times a year. Some trips are longer than others. This trip will be a short turnaround this time but it’s already shaping up to be a fully packed schedule. But even as short and busy as this visit will be for me there’s one thing that I’ve decided to try and pull off and that’s to get some timelapses with my iPhone and/or Olympus OM-D E-M5. I enjoy timelapses greatly but it’s not something I’ve really dedicated myself to doing yet, so I decided to download a couple of timelapse apps to see if I can get some fun video footage from high above the streets of Tokyo and run them through the app to give me some nice little videos. I honestly don’t know if I’ll have time to get much as I don’t have the luxury to just sit around waiting to get all of my shots but I figured that if it’s just with the phone then I can get bits and pieces of footage throughout the week.
As for this shot, I was able to grab this with my Olympus looking down from Tokyo Tower. The first thing that came to mind was a starfish, so that’s exactly what I called this shot. I didn’t pay attention to the maps they had in the tower so for all I know this is what the intersection really is called. If I have time I’ll head back up there to find out and get more shots of the area.
I’ll have photos posted here to my blog everyday as I usually do, but if you’d like to keep up with me to see what I’m up to in Japan, give me a follow on Twitter as I’ll probably use that for random observations. I don’t know how active I’ll be but I’m pretty sure I’ll tweet something here and there. Below is an example of what I might tweet this week.
