Mayan calendar

Mayan calendar

With today being Halloween, a day of ghouls, ghosts, zombies apocalypses, candy and fun, I thought it would be a good day to post a shot of a Mayan calendar. Besides, if the world is set to end by years end, I wanted to remind people about this calendar to give everybody plenty of time to prepare for the end. He he. All joking aside, this calendar sculpture is displayed at the Griffith Observatory (my favorite place to visit). I’ve only seen pictures of these calendars online, so to see an actual, physical display up close and personal was really neat. The artwork on the calendar are quite attractive and a nice look into the artistic skills of the Mayan civilization. If you’re in L.A. and have some free time, head on over to the Observatory and head down to the lower floor. That’s where you’ll get a closer look of this beautiful display.
