Whenever I take a road trip, I always make sure to enjoy the road itself. Some folks tend to focus on the destination which is fine. But I’m a big believer in the saying “Life is a journey, not a destination”. So I’m in the habit of trying to enjoy every single thing in this life including the road. And one of the great things about this country is the number of wide open highways available to travel on. In this case, during a road trip to the North I decided to take the 154 Highway. It’s not a highway that I’ve driven on as an adult. And as a kid I certainly don’t remember it. So when I was driving along that road I was in constant awe. There were so many views of lush, green valleys and mountains and beautiful scenery. And with the clouds dominating the sky my eyes couldn’t stop scanning as I drove. So when I saw this Vista Point rest area in Santa Barbara, I took the opportunity to pull over and enjoy some of the Santa Ynez Valley.
When Driving Feels Like Flying
Before getting back on the road I decided to peek at the path ahead of me. And if you know me, you’ll know that I love photographing a good looking road. And when I saw how the road stretched into a curve as it turned into the clouds, I didn’t hesitate to take a shot. Driving through a mountain area is always fun. Especially when it gets high enough to be above the clouds. It almost feels like I’m flying when I’m able to get above the clouds like this. I’ll always keep the 154 Highway in my mind whenever I drive up North. Especially on a day when the clouds are playing nice and filling the sky with extra interest.
