So in case folks didn’t realize that the Summer was here, Mother Nature has up the temperature into triple digits. It’s not nearly as hot as it is in other places on this planet. But Southern California is so dry that it can hurt if you stay still too long. Heck, this kind of heat brings on brush fires throughout the county. Hopefully nothing serious this year. But that’s what this kind of California heat brings with it. With that being said I’m looking to escape for a weekend at some point soon. One location that I’m interested in returning to is the Sequoia National Forest.
Not only does Sequoia provide some clean and cool air because of the mountains throughout the area. But with some of the tallest trees in the world calling that area home, there’s lots of shade to be had throughout the park. I’m sure it can get hot there as well. But with the trees I don’t doubt that there would be lots of places to find relief from the heat. When I was there I couldn’t help but look up at these friendly looking trees. I stood in the shade and enjoyed how they reached up to the blue sky. It’s a fun sight for me. And I’m sure that I’m not alone in that thought.
I’m not quite ready to take a proper vacation yet. Lots of things to take care of before the coming Winter. And yes I know Winter is quite some time away. But time flies and if I don’t prepare soon then everything becomes last minute. And as the weeks pass I certainly plan to make time for weekend road trips each month. I’m aiming at quick one or two days trips so that I don’t burn any vacation time before my big Winter trip. Some places I won’t touch during the Summer because of how intense the heat can be. But there are still plenty of places to enjoy despite the weather. Hopefully I can get some fun photographs along the way. If not then at least I have the Winter to look forward to.
