Well here we are well into the second month of the year. For me it signifies a true and fresh start. The start to the year has been rough. I’m not one to go into much details about my personal life. But suffice it to say it wasn’t the good start that I was hoping for. In the grand scheme of things my baggage is actually pretty light. No big deal when I think about the serious issues the world faces. But they were my issues so it’s something I’ve had to deal with in the first month of the year. Now that it’s all behind me I can get back to me. I can get myself into trying to focus on the path I chose to follow. I see some awesome things ahead of me. And while I couldn’t quite start on the path to start the year, I can at least start now. And as the saying goes, “better late than never”.
As for this image I took this late last year during a hike in the Angeles National Forest. It was a quick walk by shot because I was very much in the mood to keep moving. What I didn’t realize was that I missed my focus on the rock. Most might not care. Pixel peepers will notice it right away. For me as I look at this image now I see a metaphor for how the year has started. I missed my focus on something in front of me. But at the time I didn’t see that there was something else that I could focus on. The path. Like on the day I shot this I’ll keep moving through the year and achieve the goals I’ve set for myself. And if all goes well then I’ll really be able to look back at the beginning this year and have a laugh about it.
As a matter of fact, I’m starting to chuckle about it already.
