One morning when I was walking around San Francisco’s Chinatown, I was just walking around, enjoying the nice cool morning and going around in random directions. I had plans to meet friends in Chinatown so I showed up early to make sure I wasn’t late so exploring some of the area seemed a natural thing to do. The streets were still empty, at least compared to how packed they became later in the afternoon, so it was kind of nice, peaceful actually. I had no particular subject matter in mind for a shot, I was simply interested in exploration since to this point, I hadn’t been to San Francisco in many years. At one point, I stopped on a street corner to reply to a couple of messages from my friends to let them know what street I was on when a couple of the residents caught my eye. In particular this fella. He was walking by with his morning paper, enjoying the morning walk as well, when he simply decided to take a seat and lean up against one of the red poles. He placed his paper down to sit on so that he didn’t get his pants dirty I suppose, and just continued to sit and relax. So naturally, I took the moment to grab this shot before going back to my messaging. A few minutes later, he got up, brushed himself off, made sure his paper was in order and continued his morning walk.
